Vasily Mosin wins men's double trap gold

(Beijing, April 15) Russian Vasily Mosin claimed the men's double trap gold with 191 hits at the "Good Luck Beijing" ISSF World Cup this afternoon. American Walton Eller and Saif Alshamsy of the United Arab Emirates ranked second and third respectively.

Vasily Mosin and his teammate Mikhail Leybo finished one-two on 145 and 141 hits respectively in the qualification round. Great Britain's Richard Faulds was third with 141 and American Walton Eller fifth.

In the final, Mosin missed four targets, but still managed to stay atop with 191. Walton Eller missed only two and came up to the second place with a total of 188.

After tying with Richard Faulds in the final shot at 185, Saif Alshamsy outhit the Briton 2-1 in the shoot-off to take the bronze (185+2). Richard Faulds had to be content with the fourth place (185+1).

Three Chinese shooters competed in the event: Hu Binyuan, 2006 and 2007 world championships runner-up, Wang Nan, 2005 World Championships runner and 2006 Asian Games champion, and Cai Chao. However, none of them were able to make the final as the best result of them was Cai's 11th spot.
