(Beijing April 14) Forty-six-year-old Gao E, who gained the women's trap title of the "Good Luck Beijing" ISSF World Cup this afternoon, said she was very happy about being able to bring out her best in today's competition.

Commenting on the fact that she had failed to enter China's Olympic roster last month, Gao explained, "I was eager to do well and so was tensed up. But today I was in form. I concentrated my thoughts on the competition and managed to bring out my best."

In spite of falling from the Olympic selective trials, Gao made her statement this time. Her final score at the World Cup was 93 hits, 3 less than the world record. "It was an excellent result," Wang Xiao, China's national trap team coach, was quoted as saying.

"It's the first time for me to compete in the Beijing Shooting Range Clay-Target Field and I think the venue is very beautiful. The spectators in Beijing were so enthusiastic and I appreciated their support," Gao added.

Talking about her teammate Liu Yingzi, who failed to enter the final today but will represent China in the Beijing Olympics, Gao described Liu as a veteran markswoman and believed she had enough strength and experience to compete in the Olympic Games.
