
(Beijing, April 14) In the third-day competitions of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 ISSF World Cup, China's Gao E won the women's trap title with a total of 93 hits, the first gold medal for China in the trap events since the opening of the tournament.
In the qualifications held in the morning, Gao led the group with 71 hits while her teammate, World Championships winner Liu Yingzi who will represent China in the Beijing Olympics, failed to enter the final after placing 11th with 67 hits. Chen Li, China's Olympic backup shooter, ranked 26th and was unqualified for the final either.
DPR Korea's trio Kim Yong Bok, Pak Yong Hui and 2006 World Championships runner-up Chae Hye Gyong entered the final with 70, 69 and 68 respectively.
Gao missed two shots in the final, but she managed to set the pace and ended with a perfect score of 93. Following Gao were DPR Korean Pak Yong Hui and Russian Irina Laricheva, on 90 and 89 tandem.
Finishing fourth to sixth were Italy's Deborah Gelisio (88), and DPRK's Kim Yong Bok (85) and Chae Hye Gyong (83) respectively.
